Top 5 Tracks of 2017…so far!

As we pass the halfway mark of 2017, here’s my top 5 tunes I’ve enjoyed listening to from January to June…

So much music to choose from, cutting it to just 5 is tough. But this is where I’ve reached so read on to find my clubhouse leader to the halfway mark…

#5

Winston Surfshirt – Ali D
Groovy little track from this Sydney six-piece featured on triple j unearthed.

#4

San Cisco – Kids are Cool
Fremantle act San Cisco dropped their newest album “The Water” on May 3rd, and although “Slo-Mo” and “Hey, Did I Do You Wrong?” got the most play, this track off the album was the one which caught me.  Upbeat, short, sharp and just a good listen.

#3

Calvin Harris – Slide (feat. Frank Ocean & Migos)
I thought Calvin hit the mark here with this track which was a quality listen towards the end of summer here in Oz.

#2

The Jungle Giants – On Your Way Down
Another 4 piece aussie act, The Jungle Giants from Brisbane released “On Your Way Down” in May and it was immediately on high streaming rotation for me!  Their previous album “Speakerzoid” had some pretty good reviews back in 2015, so maybe another LP is on the way??  We’ll see.

#1

Vince Staples – Big Fish
When Vince dropped this track (also in May) – lifted off his brand new album “Big Fish Theory” – I just couldn’t get that riff out of my head for weeks…

I was up late night ballin’,
Countin up hundreds by the thousand

And given that, this offering lands as my top track for now!!

6 months to go, plenty of big releases planned in the latter part of the year, so he’s far from safe.

Groove on!
