Each month, I search through my PlayMusic account, SoundCloud, websites and other media to put together a list of tracks I have come across and liked. For 12 months, this has been hidden in my own PlayMusic account, so now I thought I’d publish my lists here for further sharing.
The frustration on radio today – especially here in Adelaide – is the main commercial stations just play the same tracks and same artists over and over again. It feels like only tracks by Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Chainsmokers make our stations tick lately. If they get really excited, we might get a track by The Chainsmokers feat. Ed Sheeran – you get the drift!
Most of my lists will hopefully have some interesting artists you probably won’t hear on Nova or Hit!. Occasionally the mainstream will appear here where there is some undisputed talent, but for most part I hope you can find a track or two on each list which might be a fresh beat, setting you off on your own journey searching for related artists to find further pots of gold.
